Summary

Charles Wilfred Luscombe was born on 14th February 1897 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales. His parents were John Charles Luscombe and Elizabeth Anne Mossman. He attended Sydney Church of England Grammar School, where he is commemorated on their memorial honour roll and the Cricket Ground Roll of Honour. Professionally, he was a bank manager for the Commercial Banking Co of Sydney.

Military Service: Charles enlisted on 27th February 1918 at Showground Camp, Sydney, and embarked aboard the Orantes on 5th June 1918. His service records indicate he was stationed in England, where he was hospitalized from 29th August 1918 to 27th October 1918 due to pleurisy. He did not see field action during his service. Charles was promoted to ER Corporal on 21st August 1919 and returned to Australia on 12th March 1920 aboard the HMS Ceramic.

Later Life and Death: Charles passed away on 4th July 1950 in the Tamworth area, New South Wales. Although deceased estates records mention Manilla, formerly Penrith, he is buried at The New South Wales Garden of Remembrance, Rookwood.
